Following the way of Jesus makes us all of us a part of the diverse family of all those who follow his way. Participation in the life of this church makes you a member of this local expression of the tapestry God continues to weave. The following words, The Apostles’ Creed, are part of that tapestry, ancient words of Jesus followers, often read here at Southeast in our attempt to share what we believe. These words are not an attempt to coerce belief, but a promise from the leaders of this church to keep these words, words of God’s love, made visible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the only thing that matters.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the one holy church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
